ABC announces Eastwick fall premiere dates

ABC's Eastwick pilot turned out to be a fun and charming mix of light fantasy, romance, and Desperate Housewives-style drama.

Still, it's hard to predict if the quirky series will turn into a hit or end up on the scrap heap with ABC's other recent high-
concept series (Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone, Cupid). The chemistry between the show's three leads, Rebecca Romijn, Jamie Ray Newman and Lindsay Price, might be able to keep it afloat for at least one full season.

Eastwick, based on the film The Witches of Eastwick and on the novel by John Updike, will premiere on Sept. 23 at 10 p.m. ET, ABC announced today. The network also announced the Sept. 27 premiere of returning drama Brothers & Sisters, which is expected to continue its fourth season on Sunday nights.

Eastwick will cap off ABC's upcoming Wednesday night comedy block, featuring Modern Family and sitcoms starring Kelsey Grammar (Hank), Patricia Heaton (The Middle), Courteney Cox (Cougar Town).

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria Parker's husband Tony Parker has whisked the actress around Europe on a sports-themed summer vacation.

The actress admits basketball player Parker can't abandon his passion when he's not playing for his team San Antonio Spurs, and she has had to allow him to get his sports fix during their summer break too, reports express.co.uk.

"I've been on vacation. I've been travelling all over Europe going to every sports game there is. Following my husband," she said.

"We went to soccer, the Champions League, the French Open, basketball games in France. You name it, we've done it," she added.

'Desperate' books Nordling, Mirchoff

Round out family for Drea DeMatteo's characterWisteria Lane's newest resident, Drea DeMatteo, has found her family.
Jeffrey Nordling and Beau Mirchoff have joined the cast of ABC's dramedy "Desperate Housewives" as regulars next season.

Nordling will be playing a New York landscape designer who moves to Wisteria Lane with his wife (DeMatteo) and their tightly wound, sexy and intense son (Mirchoff).

Heading into its sixth season, "Desperate" has been beefing up the cast with new faces, including new regulars DeMatteo, Nordling, Mirchoff and Maiara Walsh and returning Andrea Bowen.

APA-repped Nordling most recently co-starred in the seventh season of Fox's hit drama "24." He also co-starred on FX's "Dirt" opposite Courteney Cox.

Mirchoff, repped by APA and managed by Vital Management Group, starred in Sony's "The Grudge 3" last year.

'DESPERATE' KIN WILL BE NIECE TOUCH

ADD another potential troublemaker to the Wisteria Lane crew.

Maiara Walsh, who ruffled a few feathers on "Desperate Housewives" late last season, has been made a full-time cast member.

She joins former "Sopranos" star Drea de Matteo, who became "Desperate" last week, as the second big name to join the ABC comedy.

Walsh, 21, will reprise her role as Ana Solis, Carlos' (Ricardo Chavira) comely niece who arrived at her uncle's house at the end of last season -- immediately butting heads with Gaby (Eva Longoria Parker).

Walsh, who's half-Brazilian, is a veteran of Disney Channel's "Cory in the House," where she played Meena, one of Cory's (Kyle Massey) best friends.

As The Post previously reported, de Matteo, who played the doomed Adriana on "The Sopranos," has inked a deal to join "Housewives" as a series regular, playing the matriarch of the newest family to move to Wisteria Lane.

She replaces Nicolette Sheridan, whose character, Edie, was killed off last season via electrocution.

"Housewives" returns for its sixth season Sept. 27.

Desperate Housewives:Who's Under the Veil?

The news of Andrea Bowen returning to Desperate Housewives for the season-six premiere is sparking debate that her homecoming means Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher) is at the altar, behind the veil and getting married to Mike Delfino (James Denton).

Spoiler Alert: We're giving you every chance not to peek inside at the evidence we've compiled because all signs point to one Wisteria Lane resident over the others.

Here are the five reasons to support who we think is under the veil...

Without dissing Dana Delany (Katherine Mayfair), we have a gut feeling that Susan is actually the blushing bride-to-be. The facts are these:

Andrea Bowen is returning as Julie Mayer in a regular capacity this season. Mike always treated her like his own daughter while dating her mom, and she'd need to be back to be a bridesmaid in the wedding.

Karl Mayer (Richard Burgi), Susan's ex-husband, was at the wedding (keep your eyes peeled on the 40-second mark). He has no ties to Katherine and he despises Mike. If it isn't Susan, why would he be there?

The season finale script reads "The family is reunited" when Susan and Mike embraced after their near-death experience. Reunited and it feels so good, no?

Because executive producer Marc Cherry wants them together. Regarding the Mike and Susan relationship, Cherry said back at the Paley Festival: "The idea is, we'll get back there. I don't know when. If ABC makes a deal with all of us, it looks like we have a few years to play this out, so I would imagine at some point in time Susan and Mike will find their way back in each other's universe." We think it's about time, don't you?

Finally, we here at WWK simply want it to be Susan because we're sick of the merry-go-round of keeping them apart.

Now that we've given you our reasons for why we think Susan Mayer is getting hitched to Mike, it's time to hit the comments with who you think is the new bride. Susan Delfino or Katherine Delfino? You decide!
